Types of Search Engine Success Factors

Search engine success factors are majorly into 3 main groups in the search engine land periodic table.
  • On-The-Page SEO
  • Off-The-Page SEO
  • Violations

Each of these groups have further sub-groups and in turn each subgroup have 1 or more individual seo factors with specific importance and weight for each.
  • In the periodic table the 1st letter in the SEO element represents the subgroup to which it belongs and the 2nd letter is the individual SEO factor.
  • No single SEO success factor guarantees top rankings.
  • On-The-Page SEO factors are purely under the publisher/owners control and this includes type of content being published, HTML clues that are provided to assist both search engines and users relevancy and if the site architecture is aiding or obstructing the search engines.
  • Off-The-Page SEO factors are  not directly controlled by publishers. These signals are used by search engines as they understood that depending on On-The-Page SEO factors alone wont yield good results from the billions of web pages.
  • Violations are techniques deemed by search engines as SPAM or BLACK HAT that are actually meant to deceive or manipulate search engines grasping about any specific websites relevancy or authority.
  • The table has SEO elements that are either marked with numbers ranging from -3 to +3 and reflected a hue as well to represent their importance. Those elements that are marked +3 are more important and it doesn't mean that those that are marked +1 are worthless, it just means that they are relatively less important to speak.
These are not the only factors that are to be considered but there are many other signals and subsignals from Google, instead the periodic table focuses on the big picture. The periodic table was designed with the purpose of avoiding being ultra-specific as such things may be distracting.

SEO Periodic Table

Ranking factors being the signals for positioning any website on Google SERP, its more important to have an idea of what different factors are there that are considered as Google signals for measuring a website.
Search Engine Land has taken a step forward in creating a SEO table that's to some extent similar to a periodic table design and hence is named as SEO PERIODIC TABLE.
With many factors being considered as ranking signals, this periodic table deals with the ranking factors along with the best practices that turns results with respect to not only search engines but also searchers.

Each and every factor listed on the table are important, while those marked +3 carry more weight than +2 and +1. Its not that a factor if maintained will yield top rankings, but maintaining several aiding factors increases the chances. As positive rated factors increases ranking possibilities and so are the negative rated factors. Those that are marked in red harm your chances in the race.
